Paul Banchero Obituary
August 2021 (age 83)
Resident of Oakland, CA
Paul Banchero was a loving husband, proud father of two sons, and grandfather of three beautiful babies who arrived late in his life bringing great joy. He was a graduate of UC Berkeley in electrical engineering. Paul worked in the Biomed Division of Lawrence Berkeley Lab for 20 years, then in private industry, and at the Port of Oakland. He has been a member of Lake Merritt Joggers and Striders since 1987, where he was a former LMJS Webmaster and their head race director for several years. He was deeply interested in environmental causes. Paul, his father, grandfather and son Matt have all been members of the Fratellanza club.
Paul is survived by his wife, Dana, his sons Andy and Matt, daughter-in-law Mary Jane Thomas, 3 grandchildren & his sister Margaret Banchero. He will be greatly missed.
Friends and neighbors are invited to a funeral mass at St. Augustine Church, 400 Alcatraz Avenue, Oakland on Friday, September 10 at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in San Pablo.
