Bob was born in Wakefield Michigan. After graduation from Wakefield High School he went to Chicago. He was hired by Mandex and worked there for 2 years. He enlisted in the Army stationed in Hawaii. While on leave he visited his sisters in Castro Valley. His sister Priscilla introduced him to the Love of his Life- Diane. They were married at Our lady of Grace Catholic Church in Castro Valley.
Bob enjoyed sports, western movies- especially John Wayne; gardening, wood working, cooking & was a jack of all trades. Most of all he enjoyed spending time at the family cabin. He worked in management at various manufacturing companies until he purchased his own company "Miller Design and Equipment" which he ran for several years. He then sold the company and retired.
In addition to his wife Diane, Bob is survived by his brother James (Lois), brother-in-law Victor, sisters Priscilla & Karen. He also leaves behind several nieces & nephews; nephew Eddie & niece Jennifer. He is predeceased by Parents Fanny & Arthur Haapoja , brothers Arthur, Bill, Arnold & John; sisters Laverne, Lorraine, Bernadine, Bernice, sister-in-law Marilyn; Nephews Marc, Bill, Earl; Nieces Bonnie & Joann.
The family would like to thank Trinity Care in Danville for the exceptional care, comfort and support. Bob will be missed but remembered by many in our hearts and prayers.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Mon. Dec. 12th @ Holy Angels Sorensen Chapel 1140 B St. Hayward from 5:00 – 8:30 p.m. with Vigil at 7 p.m. Chapel Service on Tues., Dec. 13th @ 10:00 followed with the burial at Mt. View Cemetery, Oakland.
