ROGER D. FILDES After an enjoyable day of visiting with family and friends on Saturday, Roger Fildes passed on to eternal peace on Sunday morning, September 1. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, September 7, at 4 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Newark, 35450 Newark Blvd., Newark. Roger was 51 years old. Roger was the beloved husband of Marcia Fildes and the loving father of Dayna. Robert, and Alexis Fildes A native of Illinois, Roger was the son of Woodrow and Dorothy Fildes. His sister Ramona Graves resides in Pekin, Illinois; a brother David Fildes, in Tremont, Illinois; and a sister Jeanne Kunz, in Portola Valley, California. Roger earned his Ph.D in Electrical Engineering at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, and worked in the communications electronics industry, primarily at Watkins-Johnson Co. in Palo Alto. Roger loved to travel the scenic, open roads of America, especially on his motorcycle. Devoted to his family, Roger was adept at wood crafting and enjoyed auto and model railroad projects. Roger will be lovingly remembered for his quiet nature, his subtle humor, and his diligent, intelligent approach to any task at hand.
