RUTH BATRES

Born June 26, 1930, passed away peacefully Monday, February 12, 2007 at the age of 76. Beloved mother to Rogelio (Silvia) Valdez Jr., H. Mario (Tess) Valdez, Esther (Nancy) Valdez and Jessica (Anthony) Batres-Escobar. Devoted grandmother to Mark, Eddie, Melissa, Gabriel, Kristen, Danielle and Jesus. Loving great-grandmother to Marquess, Faith and Rocky. Cherished sister to Mr. and Mrs. Augustine Batres, Elvira Vasquez, Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Batrez of Kansas City, MO and Alice Murray of Kansas City, KS. She will be dearly missed by many nephews, nieces, cousins and extended family and friends.
A native of Kansas City, KS moved to Berkeley, CA in 1960. She retired from the City of Berkeley as a Community Health Care Worker, after 20 years of service.
Ruth, a faithful servant of God, was a member of the First Mexican Baptist Church of Richmond, CA for 43 years. Among her many attributes, she used her God given talent of playing the piano and will forever be remembered for serving the Lord with music and song.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, February 20th at 4 p.m. with memorial service at 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Sunset View Mortuary. Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 21st, 11 a.m. at Sunset View Mortuary.

Our deepest sympathy. La Hna Batres was an amazing woman. God gave her the gift of music and she shared it with all of us. When she played, at times I would get goose pimples...it was very moving.

May the Lord give you the strenght and comfort that you need at this time. You are in our prayers.
