He served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict as well as the Air National Guard as a reservist until 1979. Sam retired as a Right of Way Manager for AT&T in 1989 and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Mount Diablo Pilots and Golden Gate Navioneers. I worked with "Sam" in 1988 and 1989 while a consultant for AT&T. As part of the multi-state fiber optic line installation we were overseeing, we would travel extensively and spent many evenings together. We always walked every evening for several miles, as Sam stayed quite fit and trim. Sam was fun to be around, always had a story or a joke to share, and was always thinking ahead. We were out walking when we found a mint Lincoln Mark IV that he bought. I lost touch with Sam after 1989. I don't know what made me google his name today. I think of Sam and our adventures often. October 13, 2010

I had the privilege of having this wonderful man as my father for the last 36 years. Every person who knew him was touched by his kindness, humor, generosity and love. He will never be forgotten by his friends and family but more importantly, he served as the kind of human being I one day aspire to become. I love you dad and miss you dearly.
