Sandi Kronquist

1938 - 2022

Sandi was born in Cambridge Massachusetts, eventually settling in Chicago Illinois where she attended Hyde Park High School, graduating in 1956. Shortly thereafter, she married Tom Kronquist and had 2 children, Vicki and Tom. She worked at the University of Chicago in Public Relations where she discovered a love and talent for photography which she continued to enjoy throughout her life. In 1974, now a single parent, she decided to move to California. Trekking cross-country in an old yellow, convertible Chevy Impala with her 2 kids, and 2 cats in tow, she began a new life. A brave decision indeed.Sandi worked at the Lawrence Berkeley Lab for 40 years while also discovering an appreciation for hiking, camping, yoga, the San Jose Sharks and the SF Giants. She enjoyed travelling and visited India twice, went birdwatching in Hawaii, attended The Kentucky Derby one year, and never missed the reunions held every 10 years for Hyde Park High School, remaining in close contact with many of her friends.Sandi loved to laugh and spend time with her family. She was a grandmother to 7 children and hosted annual cookie-baking sleepovers for them every year at Christmas. Her grandkids will always remember her yearly gifts of Advent calendars and Christmas ornaments, chosen just for them. She loved cats, birds and her dog Sheva. She made amazing English toffee and peanut butter balls and loved a nice glass of wine or two. We will miss her effervescence at family gatherings!Sandi is survived by her daughter, Vicki and son, Tom, son-in-law, Maury and 7 grandkids, Kaelin, Mary, Jake, James, Karlee, Ryan and Haley. She was preceded in death by her brother, Malcolm Teele and her daughter-in-law, Cindy Kronquist.In memory of Sandi, a donation to The Alzheimer's Association would be greatly appreciated.
