Saverio Joseph "Sam" Camporeale passed away peacefully December 15, 2022 in his home surrounded by loved ones at the age of 87. He was born June 22rd, 1935 in Oakland California to Anna Caponio and Michele Camporeale, both from proud Italian descent. Sam grew up in Oakland where he made many lifelong friends including NFL greats John Brodie and Pervis Atkins while attending Oakland Technical High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Carol Shultis, and they had four children, Mike, Ken, Jane and Charlie. After high school he briefly attended junior college before joining the Army where he was stationed in Germany as an MP until ordered stateside to appear with the color guard on the Ed Sullivan show. In 1978 Sam married Jane Rose and gained step-daughter Lisa. They moved to Eagle ID in 2001 after his retirement where they remained. Sam and Jane enjoyed 44 years of marriage until her death in July, 2022.Sam enjoyed an exceptional 40 year career with Jorgensen Steel Company starting in inside sales and retiring as Divisional Vice President of the Southwest Region. He served as a role model and mentor to many along the way. We will always smile recollecting the antics he shared from his outside sales client experiences.Sam and Jane were very active in the Masonic community in
Tulsa, OK, where Sam was a member of Eastgate Masonic Lodge No. 543 and eventually ascending to the Potentate of Akdar Shrine in 1994. They made many endearing and lifelong friends and remained active in the Masonic community when they moved to Idaho.Sam is survived by his children Mike (Barbara), Ken (Diane), Jane (Dwight), Lisa (Charles); grandchildren Michael, Joe, Daniel (Katy), Kevin, Nick, Tommy, Joe, Jimmy, Allie, Andrew and twin great-grandchildren Dominic and Meilani.He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Joe, his first wife Carol, son Charlie, and wife Jane.Sam was a loyal friend with a huge heart. He will be remembered by his children and grandchildren as a kind and loving man with a dry sense of humor, great love of family, brotherhood, fishing, fun filled poker games with his kids and grandkids and a love for traveling to see his grandson's sporting events.The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful caregivers who provided their sincere love & compassion for Sam over the past several months, as well as Aspen Hospice who helped all of us through this journey.Services will be held in
