Theodore Peter Legakis, age 85, passed away peacefully on May 16th, 2022, at his home in Castro Valley, CA with his family lovingly by his side. Theodore was born on June 4th,1936 in Kremasti, Laconia, Greece and was the 5th child of Panayiotis and Panayiota Legakis.
A kind and loving man, Theodore appreciated spending his days surrounded by family and friends recounting his fond memories of growing up in Kremasti, over a bottle of his legendary homemade wine.
In 1966, Theodore set out to build a prosperous life in America. On September 5th, 1976, he met the love of his life, Maria Legakis and was married within a week on September 11th in Athens, Greece. Shortly after their wedding, Theodore and Maria settled into their new life in Oakland, CA where they welcomed their daughter, Panayiota. 13 years later in 1990, Theodore and Maria welcomed their son, Panayioti. Soon after, they settled in Castro Valley, CA whereas a family they built a beautiful life, filled with all his favorite things, a pristine garden, homemade food and wine, and most importantly endless love and laughter.
Theodore is survived by his wife, Maria, his children Panayiota and Panayioti (Alisha), his siblings Yiannoula, Evdokia, Kosta and Marigo as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend Trisagion Services, Thursday, May 19th, 2022, at 5:00pm at the Ascension Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 4700 Lincoln Ave., Oakland, CA. Coffee hour will follow at the Resurrection Greek Orthodox Church in Castro Valley, CA. Funeral Service, Friday, May 20th, 2022, at 11:00am Ascension Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
