Virginia May Edwards

Virginia May Edwards (née Wolfenden) May 30, 1918 - Feb. 23, 2008 Resident of Pleasanton Virginia May Edwards (nee Wolfenden) died at age 89 in Pleasant Hill, California. Born in San Francisco and a lifelong resident of the Bay Area, Virginia lived in Pleasanton with her second husband, Roy Edwards, where they were active in tennis and golf at Castlewood Country Club. Earlier Virginia was a nationally-known tennis player, a three-time winner of the California State singles title, among others, and she was ranked among the top 10 players nationally for several years. She was inducted into the Northern California Tennis Hall of Fame in 1976. Her first husband was Frank Kovacs, an internationally known tennis star. She is survived by her son Frank L. Kovacs, her two grandsons James and Alex Kovacs, and by two sisters, Dorothy Flegal and Nancy Lawrence.
