Walter Ammon Obituary

Walter Ammon
March8, 1918 - November 26, 2012
Resident of Walnut Creek
Walter Resor Ammon died peacefully in his sleep at the age of 94. He was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, majoring in Business Administration. Walter served in the U.S. Marine Corps in WWII as a 1st Lieutenant. After the war, he moved to California, where he met and married Elsa Baker, a Navy nurse. He and Elsa lived in Orinda for many years, where they raised two sons, Walter and Randall. Wally was an inspiration to his sons and his grandchildren, Leah, Denise, Matt and Bill Ammon. He was hard working, honest, a man of integrity, who loved his family and was always there for them. He made friends easily and was known for his kindness, the twinkle in his eye and his quick sense of humor. All who knew and loved him will sorely miss him.
There will be a celebration of his life on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 2:00 p.m. at the Creekside Clubhouse, 1010 Stanley Dollar Drive in Rossmoor. In lieu of flowers, please donate in his name to the University of California at Berkeley.

During the entire two-step process, they were amazingly kind and fair-minded. They treated me with uncommon respect and always appreciated what was being done in their behalf. His last words when I visited his Rossmoor home later on were: "Come back anytime, Tony." Wally was truly an officer and a gentleman....
