Wayne Grams Obituary

Wayne "Whitey" Grams Linda Rae Grams Wayne "Whitey" Grams, 66, and Linda Rae Grams, 61, tragically left this earth, together, on January 20, 2006. Married 38 years, Wayne and Linda were devoted parents and grandparents who loved each other and their family and friends very much. Wayne was born in North Dakota, in 1939. He moved with his family to Richmond, CA in the early 1940s. He graduated from Richmond High School in 1957. He met Linda at a Richmond Ramblers event, as Wayne was very involved in dirt bike racing with the Ramblers. They married on March 25, 1967. Wayne, or "Whitey", as he was known because of his white-blonde hair, worked for 34 years at the California Department of Transportation, "Caltrans", as a Maintenance Supervisor in Walnut Creek. Wayne was an empathetic parent, caring husband and very special grandfather. Linda was born in South Dakota in 1944, and moved to Richmond, CA with her parents and 11 brothers and sisters, when she was 12 years old. She also attended Richmond High School. She worked at Hartford Insurance company in San Francisco until the birth of her first child, Rhonda, in 1971. She was a dedicated homemaker, church volunteer, PTA member, exceptional parent and loving grandparent for the remaining part of her life. Both Wayne and Linda loved the outdoors and shared that love with their daughters, camping in Northern CA with their daughters and extended family every summer. They enjoyed water skiing, fishing and sailing with their family and friends. After 34 years at Caltrans, Wayne retired and spent time with his wife, the love of his life, in the home they built together with family in 1968 in Martinez, CA. Both enjoyed going to Reno and taking car rides in the hills around Martinez. They were doting grandparents who witnessed the birth of both of their grandsons, Colin Garrett Rojas and Gabriel Orion Myrick. They loved being grandparents. They are survived by their daughters, Rhonda L. Rojas of Crockett, CA and Deanna Grams of San Francisco, CA; their grandsons, Colin and Gabriel; Wayne's brother, Levon Grams of Santa Rosa, CA; Linda's three sisters, Maryann Luschen, of Martinez, CA, Patricia Henrikson, of Stonyford, CA, and Carol Henry, of Chico, CA; Linda's five brothers, Keith Luschen, of Clinton, MA, Paul Luschen of Knoxville, TN, Stuart Luschen of Antioch, CA, Phillip Luschen of Sheridan, OR, and Scott Luschen, of Martinez, CA; and several other loving family members and friends. A memorial service to honor their lives will be held on Friday, January 27, at 11:00 am, at Connolly & Taylor, 4000 Alhambra Avenue, Martinez. Flowers can be sent to Connolly and Taylor on Thursday. To memorialize Linda and Wayne, a college trust is being established for the benefit of their two grandsons, Colin and Gabriel.

Rhonda & Deanna:

You have always been like daughters to me and your parents always treated Sabetha as if she were their daughter. Your folks were kind, wonderful, and caring people. Please accept my greatest condolences in your loss of both of your parents, Wayne & Linda. Know that I love you all and am here if you need anything. I found the following quote and it lifted my heart so I hope it also helps you to think of your parents as shining stars.

Love and sympathy,

Meri Keiser

"Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy". ~Author Unknown
