Wilma M. McCarthy

WILMA M. "BAL" "MAC" McCARTHY Died peacefully, July 9, 2003, after a battle with cancer. A native of Oakland, 77 years of age. Grew up in the Temescal area of Oakland, a graduate of Holy Names High School, Class of 1943, and of Providence College of Nursing, Class of February 1947. A registered nurse, practicing for almost 40 years (28 of those at Eden Hospital in Castro Valley), retiring in 1986. A member of Transfiguration Church in Castro Valley, active as a lector and Eucharistic minister; and the Eden Medical Center Auxiliary. Survived by her husband of over 55 years, Roy McCarthy of Castro Valley; her son, Dave McCarthy, and his partner Patrick O'Higgins of Point Richmond; her daughter-in-law and her husband, Janyce and Daniel Rodrigues of San Leandro; her grandchildren, Andrea Delgadillo of San Leandro and Steven McCarthy of Dublin; her great-grandchildren, Gabriel Soto and Marissa Delgadillo of San Leandro; her sister, Sylvia Balbi of Oakland; other relatives, and numerous friends. Her older son, James McCarthy predeceased her in 1979. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Transfiguration Church, 4000 E. Castro Valley Blvd. Castro Valley on Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at 7:00 PM.
