Allen William Schmuck

1929 - 2016

Allen William Schmuck was born May 9, 1929, in Duluth, MN, and died October 31, 2016, in Lubbock, TX. Al served during the Korean Conflict. Upon his discharge from the U.S. Air Force in Roswell, NM, married Jimmie Cotton, with whom he had seven daughters, Virginia, Catherine, Beth, Celia, Sherill, Alyne, and Julia. Later, Al married Virginia Potts, with whom he adopted six children, Joseph, Maria, Anna, John, Rachel, and Rebecca.
Over the course of his lifetime, Al was a very successful business man who was also active in local politics, his Catholic Church, and his community. He was loved and respected by many. In 2007, Al and Virginia moved from New Mexico to Lubbock, TX. Al is survived by his wife, Virginia, and her sister, Genevieve Potts, both of the home. He is also survived by his thirteen children, plus grandchildren and great-grandchildren too numerous to count.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Friday, November 4, 2016, with rosary staring at 6:00 p.m. at Combest Family Funeral Homes, 2210 Broadway, Lubbock. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Lubbock. Inurnment with Military Honors will be conducted at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park, 15602 Loop 493, Woodrow, TX, at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2016.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Children's Home of Lubbock.
