Carol Martinez Arias Obituary
Carol was born to Fred B. and Virginia Martinez (Munoz) on July 7th, 1961. She attended Tucumcari Public Schools. She married the love of her life; David Arias and they celebrated 45 years of marriage. She loved her zest for life and was well known for her big heart, lending a helping hand for anyone in need and the amazing cookies that she loved baking for everyone. She retired in 2024 after 33 years from Camelback Corporation (Best Western Discovery Inn). Carol was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, sister-in-law and friend. She cherished time spent with her family and embraced everyone with love.
Carol is survived by her husband David; children James Martinez, Melanie Welch (Steven), and Matthew Arias (Apryl); grandchildren Unique (Tim), Cherish, Zion, Sean, Ian, Isaac (Jasmine), Javida, and Juliana; and great-grandchildren Serenity, Xyaire, Milani, Mia, Gilbert, Gabriel, and Nehemiah. With the growth of her family, she lovingly embraced many other grandchildren: Joseph, Aubriana, Devanie, Kaitlyn & Laryssa. She is survived by her sisters; Mary Paredes of Amarillo, TX & Beth Sisneros of Tucumcari, NM., as well as many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, God children, nieces, nephews & her God mother Virgie Valverde. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers-Michael, Tony, Richard, and Johnny-and two sisters, Georgia and Frances.
Following Carol Arias's wishes, a cremation has taken place. Urn bearers are her sons and grandsons. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, October 24, 2025, at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 306 W. High Street, Tucumcari, NM, 88401. Burial to follow at Tucumcari Memorial Park, 4161 Cemetery Road, Tucumcari, NM 88401.
In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Association or Tucumcari Health and Hospice.
