Freddie Louise Grimes, 89, passed away on June 18, 2021, in Pensacola, Florida. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2021, from 1:00PM to 5:00PM at Muffley Funeral Home, 1430 Thornton Street, Clovis, New Mexico. A second visitation will be Friday, July 2, 2021, from 9:00AM-1:00PM at First Church of God in Christ, 3400 Vinton Street, Clovis, New Mexico. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021, 2:00PM, at First Church of God in Christ, 3400 Vinton Street, Clovis, New Mexico. Pastor Robert Grimes will be officiating. Geraal Rakee-Alaa Sims, Matiga "Tigg" Bunton, Ebony Bunton, Zaishaun Senaj Brown, and Zamarion Ja'mmie Marquese Brown will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow the service at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.
Freddie was born on May 9, 1932, in Bryan, Texas to Frank and Zelma Collins. She married Lonnie Grimes, Sr. in Calvert, Texas. She enjoyed gardening, taking care of grandchildren, reading and going to church.
Survivors include 6 children: Lonnie Grimes, Jr. (Deborah), Gloria Bryant, Cleo Brown, Vivian Bunton, Larry Grimes (Eulonda), and Patricia Nance (Jonathan), her step sister; Bertha Brooks, Margie Fisher and Pearl Cavitt, her step brothers; Fred Collins and Ben Collins, 21 grandchildren, and 47 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Lonnie Grimes, Sr., her son; Robert Grimes, and her daughter; Zelma Moore.
