Guadalupe Candelaria Baca

Guadalupe (Lupe) Candelaria Baca, age 88, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. A devoted mother of six and proud grandmother of eight, she lived her life with a generous heart, a tireless work ethic, and an unwavering devotion to those she loved.
Lupe is survived by her children: Leroy and Anna Baca of Mustang, OK (Dustin [Samantha] Baca and Michelle), Richard and Gina Baca of Clovis, NM (Carlos Baca), Jerome (JT) and Olga Baca of Albuquerque, NM (Jennifer [Andrew] Baca-Benavides and Jessica Baca), Gilbert [Cida] Baca of New Braunfels, TX (Megan [Michael] Wenzel and Morgan [Elizabeth] Baca-Herrera), and Carol Baca of Portales, NM (Donicio [Jennifer] Chavez) along with many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Modesto Baca, her son, Rudy Baca, and her daughter-in-law, Regina Baca.
Lupe was known for her warmth and her extraordinary cooking, especially her famous tamales that became a cherished tradition in her family and community. In her younger years, working as a chef and also in the hospital industry. She also devoted countless hours to helping her husband with his plumbing business.
Fully bilingual and endlessly hardworking, Lupe carried a deep pride in her heritage, her home, and her family. She was a steadfast mother-supportive, protective, and always in her children's corner. Her love provided a foundation of stability, comfort, and strength for everyone fortunate enough to be held in her circle.
Lupe was deeply loved in life and was a bright, steady light to her family. Her legacy lives on in the memories she created, the traditions she passed down, and the love she poured into all who knew her.
May her beautiful soul rest in peace.
At her request, no formal services will be performed. A private burial will take place at a later date.
