Iola Elizabeth Richardson

1923 - 2021

Funeral services for Iola E. Richardson, 97, formerly of Portales, will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at the Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Kendall, Neil Richardson, Matthew Howell, Garret Richardson, Ryon Howell and Blake Richardson serving as pallbearers. Shawn, Kyle and Emma Richardson, Megan, Katie and Gage Richardson, Hannah and Travis Richardson along with all of her Calvary Baptist Church Family and her many friends will be honorary pallbearers.
Iola Elizabeth Richardson was born May 10, 1923, near Elida, NM, to Willie Herman and Lola Florence (Riddle) Cryer. She went to be with her Lord on Thursday, February 18, 2021, at the age of 97 years old.
Iola graduated from Elida Schools. During this time, she met the love of her life, Henry "Lee" Richardson. They graduated and married in May of 1940.
They made their home in Roosevelt County for their 52 years of marriage, where they lived until the death of Henry, and Iola's failing health took her to Heartland Nursing Home in Portales and later transferred to the Retirement Ranch in Clovis, NM
Iola lived for her family and doing things together. Iola and Henry spent time working in the garage, going to the lake and traveling. They spent many happy times in the Good Sam's Club and ENM Antique Auto Club. In later years, she enjoyed crocheting and making small canvas crosses for everyone.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry; 3 brothers, Altus, Virgil and Estill Cryer; and her parents, W. H. and Lola Cryer.
She is survived by sons, Douglas (Pat), and Wayne (Vicky) Richardson of Clovis; grandchildren, Kendall (Mary Ellen) Richardson of Lubbock, TX, USAF General Neil Richardson (Melissa) of Burke, VA, Dana (Matthew) Howell of Elida and Shawn Richardson of Clovis; great grandchildren, Megan, Hannah, Katie, Blake, Garrett, Kyle, Ryon, Emma, Travis and Gage.
