Janie Moberly Obituary

Janie Fern Moberly, devoted wife, loving mother, and precious grandmother and great grandmother passed away at the age of 88 on May 13, 2022, at Plains Regional Medical Center.
Janie was born near Field, NM on November 8, 1933, to Johnny and Thelma Elliott. Janie and her sister, Loretta, grew up in a loving home on the family farm.
Janie met the love of her life, Jacob H. Moberly, in the first grade and their fairytale love story began. They were married on June 29, 1952. Their marriage lasted for over 68 years until Jake's death on October 22, 2020.
Janie graduated from Eastern New Mexico University in 1955 with an Associates of Arts degree. As an ENMU alumnus, she was very active in supporting her alma mater. Janie served as an ENMU regent for 12 years. She was also a founding member of the Friends of Eastern Foundation. She served on its board for 41 years, including 29 years as vice president. Janie, along with Jake, were named ENMU Volunteers of the year in 2019.
Janie was a longtime, active member of Kingswood Methodist Church.
Janie was an active member of PEO and Beta Sigma Phi for most of her adult life. She made many life-long friends as a member of those organizations. Janie and Jake loved entertaining and doing whatever they could to be supportive of their family and friends. Family was everything to them and they loved planning trips and get-togethers for the whole family.
Janie is survived by her four children: Terry Moberly and his wife, Mary Jo, of Clovis, NM; Tonya Adrian and her husband, Randy, of Clovis, NM; Kyle Moberly and his wife Emily, of Las Cruces, NM; and Deirdre Guthals of Clovis, NM. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren: Keri Williams and her husband, Joe, of Allen, TX; Jason Moberly and his wife, Jennifer, who reside on the family farm near Field, NM; Jessica Wilde and her husband, Chris, of Haslet, TX; Kendra Adrian of McKinney, TX; Megan Moberly of Las Cruces, NM; Ean Guthals of Clovis, NM; Nicole Moberly of Brooklyn, NY; Bronwyn Spears and her husband, Jake, of Amarillo, TX; and Layton Guthals of Lubbock, TX. Janie is also survived by her twelve great-grandchildren: Zarryn Adrian, Chandler Moberly, Cole Maxwell, Molly Wilde, Caydon Wilde, Leah Moberly, Zoey Johnson, Easton Williams, Jaxson Moberly, Jacob Guthals, Sammy Guthals, and Ellowyn Spears. Janie is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and life-long friends.
In addition to Jake, Janie was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Loretta Monroe.
The family thanks Rachel Gallegos for her friendship and loving care of Jake and Janie during the last couple of years. The family also thanks the staff at Wheatfields Senior living Center for their care of Janie during the last months of her life.
