Stephanie Cannon Obituary

Stephanie C. (Jimenez) Cannon, age 64, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025, in Dallas, Texas, where she battled Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) since May 2024.
Stephanie was born December 26, 1960 in Tucumcari, NM to Casey and Mary Jimenez. Steff would say she was born on the 25th, but figured it was only right that Baby Jesus have His own day, so she chose the 26th. She was raised by her grandparents, the late Blas and Lala Jimenez, because quite honestly, the spoiling was more outrageous in their household. She was married, became a mother, and graduated high school in 1978. She lived her life in Tucumcari raising her son, caring for her Grandma Lala, and running the family pilot car business, E & L Escort. Steff always called it "Early in the morning & Late at night". You can ask her brother Karl about the details to any questions about that title.
She was preceded in death by her parents Casey & Mary Jimenez, and by her grandparents Blas & Lala Jimenez and Ross & Lulu Bustos.
Steff loved traveling and she preferred traveling by car, because she always said the journey was usually more fun than the destination. Her dream was to buy a motorhome and travel all over the U.S., meet new people, eat the best food, and just be with her PIC. Steff loved boating, beachin' it, darting, golfing, bowling, shooting pool, jam session nights, Tucumcari Rattler Reunion, and just about anything else that involved her being with her friends, laughing, and having a fabulous time. While some would get tired of doing the same thing over and over, Steff did not. To Steff, every day having fun, laughing, singing, and dancing was EPIC.
Steff's greatest qualities, besides being the prettiest girl in any room, the friendliest, best smile, greatest laugh, most popular, and always the center of attention, was never meeting a stranger and treating everyone with respect, courtesy, and compassion. She was friends with the richest, poorest, oldest, youngest, happiest, grumpiest, any color, any ethnicity – she loved everyone the same. She used to remind people that we are all God's children, and we all mattered. If someone needed help, she would help them… or volunteer someone to help them. Her most expensive and revered items were her heart, her laugh, and her welcoming personality. Oh yeah, and her "Hey Ya – Hey Ya"!!
One could go on and on about Stephanie and her huge life, but it would be more heartfelt and fun if you would join us for her funeral on March 21st, 2025 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Tucumcari, N.M. Rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM, followed with Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at the Tucumcari Cemetery. Immediately following the church services, we invite everyone to the Elks Lodge for Steff's Big Bash. Yes, Steff is going out just like she wanted: loud, laughing, smiling, singing, and remembering the good times. There will be food, drink, and music, as we celebrate Miss Tucumcari Pinata Queen 1976!!!
As a reminder Steff was not a fan of dreary black colors typically worn for funerals. Please, if you can, wear something bright, something tie-dye, dart shirt, Polar Plunge shirt, Harley-Davidson shirt, Jeep shirt, American Legion shirt, Rum shirt, Tucumcari Rattler shirt…just throw something fun on.
