Steve Owen Obituary
Steve "Heavy" Owen moved to Curry County, New Mexico in 1920 at the age of 2 with his family. They lived on a farm south of Clovis. Steve went to Center school and drove one of the first school buses in Curry County during his teen years. He worked on the farm and then drove a truck delivering propane to area farms. He was called into service for his country in July 1942 in the Army Air Corps. He served as an airplane engine mechanic stationed in Australia until World War II was over in 1945. He started dating Beatrice Klaassen while attending mechanics school in Weatherford, Oklahoma before going to Australia. He was discharged in December 1945 and married Beatrice on January 22, 1946. He attended barber school in Amarillo, Texas in 1950. Upon graduation, he began barbering in Clovis and continued for over 50 years. Steve loved camping and fishing with his family. He always had a joke or a funny line any time you saw him. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He deeply loved his family and enjoyed visiting with family and friends. He attended and served at New Life Assembly of God church for many, many years.
Survivors include two sons; George Robert (Terri) Owen of Clovis, NM, Alan Roy (Debra) Owen of Oklahoma City, OK., five grandchildren; Dereck (Gail) Owen, Amy Owen, Cameron Owen, Chelsea (Tyler) Sexton, and Cortney Owen, five great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his spouse; Beatrice Klasseen, parents; John Roy Owen and Effie Mae Burns, two brothers; Houston Owen, OK Owen, five sisters; Pauline House, Lorene Akers, Juanita Wall, Oneta Luce, and Edna McCray, two grandsons; Dennis Owen and Clayton Owen.

Mr. Owen cut my hair all my early years, great guy always a pleasure to see him, seems I remember many years ago he lost grand kids at Ute lake we all cried over that as he didn't deserve sadness, I still go by his old shop and remember the man as he was wonderful, never an unkind word did I hear him say about anyone, clearly he decorated my life!!!
