JoeAnn Smith Waters

Memorial services for JoeAnn (Smith) Waters, 85, of Sallisaw, were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 8, 2025, at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw.
Mrs. Waters was born on Oct. 28, 1939, in ther Braden Bottoms community, to Doska (Jackson) Smith and Joseph Kelley Smith. She died on Friday, Sept. 5, 2025, in Sallisaw. 
She was married to Howard Verlin Waters on March 27, 1956, in Phoenix. He preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 2014.
She graduated high school in Mill Valley, Calif., and was a homemaker. Family was her life.
Survivors are three daughters, Sheila Moody and Wayne of Sallisaw, Linda Thomas and Marvin of Pocola and Sharlette Sanders and Victor of O'Fallon, Mo.; two sons, Steven Waters and Christine of Yukon and Boyd Waters and Sommer of Sallisaw; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wanda Williams of Petaluma, Calif., and Patty Flocchini and Andrew of Petaluma; one brother, Gary Smith and Linda of Squaw Valley, Calif.; and other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Opal Serio; and two brothers, Thomas James Smith and Herbert Ray Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren.
