Herman Thomas Walker Sr.

Herman Thomas Walker, Sr., 74, of Monticello, Fla., passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 15, 2025. He will be remembered for his compassionate love towards his family and the Monticello Community. He was a talented Automotive Mechanic, and his grilling skills were top shelf. He sold barbecue chicken and rib dinners, alongside his late mother Mildred Walker's sweet potato pies and candy apples on Friday nights at "The Kitchen." Herman Sr. will be remembered by his words of wisdom, unwavering love and helping people in need. He was born on Nov. 22, 1950, and was the second out of eight siblings from the union of Mr. William Thomas and Willie Dean Walker. He completed his education in the Leon County School System. Herman Sr. married the late Mother Mildred Conway Walker, and to this union, two sons were born: Terrace and Herman Walker, Jr. He was the pastor of the House of Prayer Apostolic Faith, Inc. in Monticello. He retired from the State of Florida Department of Transportation and the City of Monticello Sanitation Department after many years of service. Cherishing his loving memories are his sons, Terrace Walker (Varonia) and Herman Walker, Jr.; grandchildren, Jaylen Walker, Herman Walker III and Jeromee Conner; one great-grandchild; siblings, Betty (Alvin) Reese, Randall (Barbara), David and James Walker; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends. The funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at Concord A.M.E. Church, with burial in Pallbearers Cemetery #25.
