Joe Davis Obituary

Joe Espy Davis (89) of Lloyd, Fla., entered into his final rest and ultimate healing on Monday, April 28, 2025. He was born on Jan. 11, 1936 in Dothan, Ala., to the late Eleanor Skipper and John Paul Davis Sr.
The Davis family moved from Americas, Georgia to Miami, Fla. in 1952 when Joe was a teenager. He entered the United States Air Force after graduating from Miami Edison High School. After Basic Training in Texas, Joe was sent to Illinois for Radio Communications School, a high priority position during those days. He was stationed in California, working with the Global Communications System. Then it was to the lands of cold for this Florida boy...Goose Bay Labrador, Greenland, and Iceland. He moved back to Miami after serving four years in the military, finding work with Eastern Airlines on its Auto Pilot System, and for the Department of Transportation.
Joe moved his family to Jefferson County, Fla., in 1997. He was offered a job as a State Communications Engineer with the Florida Department of Transportation. Since retirement Joe kept himself busy with his backyard farming operation.
Davis was an active member of the Tallahassee Lions Club. Together with his wife Anne they had well-over 100 years of community service combined.
He leaves to forever treasure his memory, his loving wife of 70 years, Anne Davis; younger brother, Paul Davis, Jr; sons, John Michael Davis (Nelsy), Ronald Espy Davis (Rande) and Charles Thomas Davis (Cynthia); grandsons, Daniel Gregory Good, William Corley Davis and step grandson Taylor Barns; granddaughters, Brittny Lynn Darone and Shaylin Mishall Lymen; great grandsons, Colten Darone and Luca Lyman; and many other family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Kay Lynn Good Lymen.
Young, Fulford Funeral Home of Tallahassee, Fla., (850-610-4444) is handling the arrangements for the family.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, at First Baptist Church of Lloyd, 124 St. Louis Street (850-997-5309), with a family gathering immediately following at the home of Anne Davis. Burial will be held at a later date, in the Corley Family Cemetery, Monticello.
"Our words cannot express how grateful our family is for the outpouring of love, generous support, encouraging words, thoughts and prayers." The Family!

So sorry to hear of Joe´s passing. Worked with him for 30 years at FDOT/MCC. He was a wealth of knowledge and wonderful co-worker. He and I shared January birthday parties each year at MCC. Prayers for your family.
