Kay Mosher Obituary

Kay Elizabeth (Stokes) Mosher, 75, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and devoted wife, passed away on April 26, 2024. Kay was born on August 24, 1948 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the daughter of James C. and Jean E. Stokes. Kay grew up in Blair, Nebraska and graduated with the class of 1966 from Blair Senior High School. She began her career with the Mutual of Omaha in Omaha, NE. Kay came to California for a position with The Farm Credit Bureau in San Francisco. When Farm Credit moved their headquarters to Sacramento, Kay moved with the company. Shortly after she met William (Bill) Mosher, a cattle rancher from Sloughhouse, whom she married and became a ranchers wife. Kay and Bill had a wonderful life together and enjoyed living the country lifestyle. In 1980, Kay gave birth to their only child Melanie, who was their pride and joy. Kay devoted her life to giving Melanie the best life a girl could ask for. They were not only mother and daughter- they were truly best friends. Kay and Bill were blessed with two wonderful grandchildren. She was the most devoted grandmother and absolutely adored her little Maddie and Billy. She was such integral part of their lives. Her love for her grandchildren was evident in everything that she did. Kay attended every school event, supported every sports game and made every milestone special. When her beloved husband Bill became ill, Kay stood right by his side and took care of him for many years until his passing in 2017. Kay enjoyed traveling, participating in social groups, playing cards with friends and wine tasting. She was happiest when spending time with her family and close friends. Kay and her childhood friends from Nebraska would travel together every year. Her sisters and her would also get together for their annual Sister's Trip. After her late husband's passing, while traveling in Paris, she met a special friend, Dale Wilson. He introduced her to so many new fun and exciting places and adventures. When Kay started having health issues, Dale traveled back and forth from Santa Barbara to take care of her. Kay was a proud woman. She took pride in her appearance and was always put together. She was a beautiful person inside and out. Her selfless nature and giving heart will be missed by all. Kay is survived by her only daughter, Melanie Mosher Siesser (Jeff); her grandchildren Madelyn and William Baiz; two sisters, Mary Jean Rahlfs (Mick) and Diane Byers (Mike); her special friend, Dale Wilson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by William Mosher, her loving husband of 39 years; her parents James and Jean Stokes; and her in-laws, William Sr. and Melba Mosher. The family would like to express a very special gratitude to Dawid, her exceptional caregiver, who helped her through the final months of her life with compassion and joy. A visitation will be held from 5pm to 8pm on Thursday May 9, 2024, at East Lawn Funeral Home, 9189 Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove. A private family burial will be held at 9 a.m on Friday, May 10, 2024.
