Charles J. Waller Charles J. Waller, 87, of Delavan, WI, formerly of Elgin, IL passed from this life September 26, 2009 in his own home. Born April 8, 1922 in Fon du lac, WI. Preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Willie Naomi Newby; both parents, Homer and Emma Waller; two brothers and two sisters. Is survived by his three children, Charles W. (Elizabeth) Waller of Portland, TN, Larry (Lucinda) Waller of Delavan, WI, and Faye (William) Trotter of Sycamore, IL; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; his brother, Thomas Waller of Elgin; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Charles was known affectionately as 'Chick' and owned Chick's Swap Shop in Elgin for many years. He was also employed by Dunning's Auction Service and Bunte Brothers Auctions in Elgin. He was a lifetime member of the VFW of Elgin, having proudly served for 18 months in Germany and France during World War II. He and his wife were loving parents to their three children and to countless others they took into their home over the years. He will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 1 at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel, 51 Center Street, Elgin, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a short service to be held at 7:00 p.m. Information call 847-742-2100.
