Elvira Hulke

Elvira Hulke, 97, of South Elgin, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at Rosewood Care Center in St. Charles. She was born on March 12, 1911 and was the daughter of Martin and Alwina (Voges) Langhorst in Courtland, MN. She was the oldest of six children. At the age of 18, she moved to Elgin, IL.

On December 22, 1933 she married Irvin Hulke and together they raised four children. She was happiest in her kitchen - cooking, baking cookies, and playing cards. She was the oldest charter member of King Of Glory Lutheran Church in South Elgin.

She leaves behind a very large and loving family.

Surviving are two daughters, Betty Lou (Gilbert) Radtke of Ashippon, WI, and Lois Jeanette Hegner of Marengo, IL; one son, Jerry (Leah Anderson) Hulke of South Elgin; 16 grandchildren, Greg, Becky, Heidi, Jennifer, Jonathan, Joel, Pam, Penny, Brad, Steve, Sheree, Jodi, Kim, Kari, Kelly, and Kristi; 25 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ardella Austad of Lakeville, MN; her sisters-in-law, Verone and Delores Langhorst, Dorothy Olson, Loraine (Loyal) Humbracht, Delores Sterba, Ruth Pagoda and Betty Hulke; her brothers-in-law, Larry and Richard (Marge) Hulke; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded by parents; husband, Irvin in 1975; one son, Duane in 2002; daughter-in-law, Phyliss (Lohbauer) Hulke in 1996; son-in-law, Frank Heguer in 2005; sister, Loretta; brothers, Marlin, Elmer and Wallace Langhorst; four sisters-in-law, eight brothers-in-law.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. in King of Glory Lutheran Church, 36W720 Hopps Rd., South Elgin, IL with Rev. Keith Perry officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Saturday at the church from 11:00 A.M. until time of services. Memorials may be given to King of Glory Lutheran Church. Laird Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
