Jim Acers Obituary

Jim Acers, 85, of Ramsey, died suddenly August 31, 2023, at their cabin on Long Lake, Cotton, MN with his beloved wife Karen at his side.

Jim and Karen Wilson married December 14, 1963, thus began an amazing life together of adventure, challenge and love celebrated for 59 years. Jim will be remembered for his smile, positive attitude and sense of humor. Those are necessary attributes for a successful salesman. As an entrepreneur, Jim started the James D. Acers Company in 1984, an engineered sales company. Jim's sons, Mike and Terry, joined the business as salesmen following graduation from Augsburg College. They were well-liked by their clients.

Jim became a volunteer in Boy Scouts of America when his sons joined the program. He believed strongly in the tenets of the Scout Oath and Law, principles to live one's life as a model for youth. Jim received the Silver Antelope Award, the regional-level distinguished award of the Boy Scouts of America. Recipients are of exceptional character in their region to recognize their distinguished service to youth. This year Jim was recognized for 20 years' service hosting the Annual Friends of Scouting Leadership Breakfast in Elk River raising funds for youth programs.

Music was Jim's passion. He played French horn in the Elk River German Band for 39 years. He sang in the church choir, always listened to MPR classical music and exercised to Neil Diamond.

Jim leaves a rich legacy of deep love for family and God, strong character being a role model trying to lead by example and a reputation for service to the Boy Scouts of America and other community organizations. We his family honor his life with pride.

Jim is preceded in death by parents Joyce and John Acers, sister Judy Formico and beloved son Terry.

Jim is survived by his devoted wife Karen, son Mike (Jody), grandchildren Emily and Andrew, Terry's children Joe Kane (Tagen), Meade (Collin Redwine), Bijou, Kieran and great-granddaughters Hazel and Alice, as well as many cousins and dear friends.

Hello to the family of Jim Acers, I wanted to say to all of you of how much I miss Jim and I miss Karen I have not seen Karen at lifetime fitness since before Jim's passing and probably The passing of Terry.
When I learned that Jim had died only then did I learn of your beloved Terry's passing. I continue to go to lifetime fitness but it's not the same without Jim he and I visited when we would see each other. We would laugh and smile he always brightened my day and I hope that I was able to brighten his day also. Jim is missed and I hope to see Karen again it would be wonderful to visit with her. Just know that Jim Karen Terry and the whole family are always in my prayers and I think of Jim often.
God's blessings unto each of you!
Sincerely David berthiaume

Dear Karen and family I am so sorry to just read of Jim's passing.
I met Jim and Karen both at lifetime fitness and became friends. I loved it would we would see each other at the club and we would always visit. Jim always asked about my health and how I was doing he added me to there pray list. I am so grateful for having had the privilege to know Jim. He always put a smile on my face and brightened my day. I sure am going to miss Jim but I know we will meet up in heaven. Karen my thoughts and prayers go out to you I hope to see you at the club sometime.
