Matthew Arnold "Matt" Oie

1961 - 2024

Matthew "Matt" Arnold Oie, 63, of Albertville, MN, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at home, with the love of his life at his side.

Matt was born on August 10, 1961 in Granite Falls, MN to Arnold and Agnes Oie. He grew up in Granite Falls, graduating from Granite Falls High School in 1979. Matt then attended Minnesota State University - Mankato, where he earned a degree in business. He gave 25 years of driven dedication to a successful career in the flooring industry.

Matt had three great loves in his life: his daughter Haley, his wife Michelle, and the great outdoors. Lucky for Matt, he raised a daughter who also loved fishing, and the two of them made countless memories over the years in the boat, at the cabin up north, and eating their way through the MN State Fair every summer. When he met his wife Michelle in 2013, life got a whole lot sweeter when he discovered she shared his zest for the outdoors - embracing every hunting and fishing adventure that Matt's heart desired - from hunting mule deer in Nebraska and elk in Colorado to catching halibut and salmon in Alaska.

A man of strong faith, Matt was a true believer that God hears all prayers. His faith played a significant role in his battle with cancer, and he felt God's presence each and every day, especially the most difficult ones. As he often said, "no one is promised tomorrow" and he did all he could to live his life to the fullest until he was called home to heaven.

Matt was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Agnes Oie, and his sister, Julie Oie Twedt.

He is survived by his daughter Haley Oie (Braxton); his wife Michelle "Shelly"; his siblings Mike Oie (Teresa), Rebecca Anderson (Peter), and Nathan Oie (Heather); and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Buffalo Covenant Church, 1601 MN-25, Buffalo, MN 55313. A visitation will be held on Monday, November 18th from 4:30 pm - 8:00 pm and the funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 19th at 11:00am, with a visitation beforehand at 10:00am.
