Steven Chambers Obituary
Butch was born in Charles City, Iowa on March 9, 1949 to Roy and Alvira Chambers. He was raised in the small town of Marble Rock, Iowa. At age 5, his aunt and uncle, Florence and Herbert Shook, took him in as one of their own, where he lived until he graduated from Rockford/Marble Rock High School in 1967. He then moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where he attended Dunwoody Institute and earned a degree as an automotive technician in 1969. In 1968, he met his wife, Sandy Evensen. They were married on August 15, 1970 at St. Francis Methodist Church in St. Francis, Minnesota. They homesteaded in Zimmerman, where they started their family and raised their three children; Stacy, Scott and Shaun. He worked two careers in his lifetime; one as an auto mechanic at Village Chevrolet in Wayzata for 12 years, the second as a munitions technician at Alliant Tech in Elk River for 34 years, which he retired from in 2014.
Butch was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, having dedicated his life to raising his children and being a wonderful grandparent. He was a car enthusiast, having restored his '55 Chevrolet in 2008. He was an excellent craftsman, turning wood in his woodshop.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Alivira Chambers and his in-laws, Roy and Ella Evensen.
He is survived by his wife Sandy of 53 years; children Stacy (Dave) Klebs, Scott, Shaun (Bridget); grandchildren Michael (Aimee) Klebs, Katelyn Klebs, Liam and Dylan; great grandson Jackson Klebs; sisters Sandra Winters and Roylene (Mark) Kittleson; many nieces and nephews; aunt Florence Shook and cousins; stepmother Fern Chambers.
Celebration of Butch's Life will be Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Rockwoods Event Center, 9100 Quaday Ave NE, Otsego, MN. The memorial service begins at 11am, with visitation one hour prior. Lunch will follow, with the gathering concluding at 4pm.
