William Joseph Heller

1935 - 2025

William, age 90, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, in Ramsey, Minnesota.

Born on August 6, 1935, in St. Paul, Minnesota, William known to many as Bill, lived a young and fulfilling life grounded in family, friendship, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors.

He moved his family from Vadnais Heights in 1969 to Elk River, where he built his family home. Years after his wife passed, he moved to Big Fork, Minnesota for 20+ years. As he aged, he moved to Deer River, Minnesota. His family moved him to Ramsey to be closer so he could be cared for by his daughters.

A proud tradesman, Bill devoted over 50 years to the craft of bricklaying. As a long-time union member, he took great pride in his work and the many structures he helped build throughout his career. His dedication to his trade reflected a strong work ethic and unwavering character.

Bill found joy and purpose in nature. An avid fisherman and hunter, he spent countless days exploring Minnesota's lakes and woods. These outdoor pursuits became cherished traditions with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sandra N. Lindblom Heller; daughter Cynthia (Alfred Valerius Jr); grandson Blake K. Creswell; brothers Bernie, Joseph, and Richard; sister Florance; and parents Joseph W. Heller and Julia Gartner Heller.

Bill is loved by his daughters Wendy (Peter Busch) of Elk River and Kelly (Mark Miller) of Monticello, Minnesota: nine grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who will carry forward the stories and traditions he helped shape.

A man of quiet strength and enduring loyalty, Bill leaves behind a legacy built not only from bricks but also from moments shared around campfires, early morning fishing trips and lifelong friendships.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at the Elk River American Legion from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM.
