Alice June Tinsman, 88, of Edwardsburg, passed to her rest Nov. 29, 2021 at Cass County Medical Care Facility, Cassopolis, after an illness.
She was born March 13, 1933 in the Cassopolis-Vandalia area, the daughter of Harry Elisha and Florence Evelyn (Babcoke) Miller and has lived most of her life in the Cassopolis and Edwardsburg area. After graduation, she worked as a server at some of the area restaurants and later did home care for some of the local elderly residents. But Alice was mostly a stay-at-home mom for her children. She loved gardening and flowers.
Alice was married as Alice J. Miller to James C. Tinsman on Dec. 7, 1952, at the Edwardsburg Methodist Church, and Jim survives with their children, Lisa S. Portwood of Edwardsburg and Gregory Tinsman of Edwardsburg. There are two grandchildren, Kyle Tinsman (fiancé Kelly Kruse) and Chrystal Jordan, and one great-grandchild, Pierson Scott Moore. Other survivors include her siblings, Geri Gordon of Griffith, Indiana, Shirley (Roger) Maguire of Goshen and her long-time friend, Shirley Lucas Rouhselang, and husband Larry of Mishawaka.
Family who preceded her in passing are her parents, her son Scott Eric Tinsman on Sept. 29, 2002, her brothers, Jack, Dick and Harry Miller, and her sister, Norma Kling.
Cremation has taken place and she will be taken home with her daughter, Lisa. At a later date she will be laid to rest in Adamsville Cemetery beside her beloved son, Scott.
