Barbara Jean Waterman passed to her heavenly home on Oct. 12, 2025, in Elkhart at the age of 93. She was born on Oct. 11, 1932, in Grant County, Indiana, to the late Robert and Gertrude (Anderson) Huffman.
Barb married Russell A Weesner Jr. on May 10, 1951, in Covington, Kentucky, at Gospel Tabernacle. He passed Oct. 14, 1953. She married Bobby J Waterman on Nov. 10, 1955, in Elkhart at Central Christian Church. He passed May 27, 1997.
Barb retired from Gemeinhardt after many years of service. She then went on to follow her passion and opened Heritage Bible Bookstore where she hosted a children's story time every Saturday. Barb was a member of Mason Baptist.
Barb liked listening to Christian music and services on her radio every morning. She participated in 2 trips to Israel during her lifetime. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, working in her flower beds, going to garage sales and shopping with her two daughters and playing Rummikub. She had a collection of pennies that she picked up over the years and believed that angels dropped them down from heaven to put a smile on her face and remind her of people she loved.
Barb now joins in heaven her parents, daughter, LuAnn Hakala, grandson, Jonathan Hakala, brothers, Frank, Robert, Roy and Jack Huffman, sisters, Mary Allen, Betty Vincent and Bonnie Huffman, and her son-in-law, Larry Walker.
Barb is survived by her son Jeffrey Waterman and daughter Jacqueline Walker, son-in-law John Hakala, her brother, Richard (Jenny) Huffman, two sisters, Connie Christy and Vickie Ide, five grandchildren, Jennifer Duvall, Nicholas Hakala, Lucas (Lauren) Hakala, Jeffrey Waterman Jr. and Jeanette (John) Jarrell, and 10 great-grandchildren.
There are no services planned at this time. The family will be having a private gathering.

We used to be neighbors. Our children grew up together. We shared stories when we would meet up at Martins grocery. A beautiful happy friend.
