Dennis E. Sharkey, 81, of Goshen, passed away at 12:58 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025, at Harmony at Elkhart. He was born on Sept. 26, 1944, in Elkhart, to Carl E. and Alberta (Roberts) Sharkey. On Sept. 4, 1964, he married Vicki (Hoffman) Sharkey.
Surviving are his wife, Vicki Sharkey, Goshen; two children, Brian (Shelly) Sharkey, Goshen, and Tina Sharkey, Goshen; two grandchildren, Jennifer Sharkey and Brandon (Melissa) Sharkey; three great- grandchildren, Wyatt, Emma and Beckett Sharkey; and a sister, Mae Swafford, Elkhart.
Preceding him in death are his parents, a brother, Frank Sharkey, and a sister, Patty Lou Sharkey.
Dennis was the owner of Marathon Homes and a farmer. He was an Elkhart County councilman for 12 years and was a past president and on the board of the Elkhart County Fair Board for over 50 years. Dennis was a past president of Elkhart County Beef Cattle Association. He attended Faith United Methodist Church. Dennis was an avid golfer, played fast pitch softball, and enjoyed fishing and pickleball. He loved wintering in Florida with his wife, Vicki.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, Oct. 25, all at Faith United Methodist Church, 22045 C.R. 18, Goshen, IN 46528. The Rev. John Kamau Nyota, assisted by Vince Turner, will officiate. Burial will be at Sugar Grove Cemetery at a later date.
