Doris Kimmel Obituary
Doris Ann Kimmel, 77, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025, in Portland, Oregon.
Born on Aug. 4, 1947, in Elkhart, Indiana, Doris lived a life enriched by curiosity and compassion. She had an enduring love for travel and embraced every opportunity to explore the world. Her passions included theater, literature and birdwatching – interests that reflected her vibrant intellect and appreciation for beauty in all forms.
Doris will be remembered for her deep kindness and inclusive spirit. She welcomed everyone with open arms and was cherished by those who knew her for her warmth and unwavering acceptance of others.
She is survived by her husband, Eric Kimmel; her daughter, Bridgett Oren (James); and her grandson, Blake Oren.
A memorial celebration was held in Portland. Donations in Doris's memory may be made to the Bird Alliance of Oregon or Dove Lewis Animal Hospital – organizations that reflect her lifelong compassion for animals and the natural world.
