Mishawaka, Indiana
Fred J. Quirin, 77, of Mishawaka courageously fought until his passing, Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025, at home. He was born on March 1, 1948, in Elkhart to the late Sidney and Virginia Quirin and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps immediately after high school graduation. Once he returned from his service, he met Mary Sager at a local concert and they were married in 1979, celebrating over 45 years together.
Mary survives along with their children, Shawn (Steve) Toepp of Granger, Sherrill Fricker of Mishawaka, and Christine (Glenn) Galloway, of Georgia; grandchildren Billy Fricker, Tony Trozzolo, and Natasha (Matt) Stelmaszek; and great-grandchildren, Quinn Trozzolo, and Olivia and Madelyn Stelmaszek, and his beloved fur baby, Bella.
Fred took great pride in both his military service and his country, including his time with the Marine Riders of Michiana. He found genuine fulfillment and valued his work as a dedicated car inspector for the Norfolk-Southern Railroad. However, beyond his career and service, Fred's greatest priority in life was always his family; their well-being and safety were at the heart of everything he did. Known for his quiet strength, kindness, and generous spirit, Fred touched the lives of many with his warm smile and gentle presence. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Cremation has taken place, with time to celebrate his life on Sunday, Sept. 14, from 2 to 5 p.m. at VFW Post 360, with military honors at 5 p.m. Memphis Underground will provide music. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to a local animal shelter or VFW Post 360, Mishawaka.
