Huey A. Betzer Jr., 51, passed away at 10:50 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Born on Nov. 14, 1973, in Mishawaka, Indiana, Huey was a cherished son, brother, uncle and friend whose vibrant spirit and generous heart left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Huey's early years in Mishawaka were filled with the love and guidance of his parents, the late Diana Lynn (Coleman) Betzer and Hubert Betzer Sr. He grew up alongside his siblings, the late Delores Betzer, and Larry (Tamara) Sandefur. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he embraced his role as a loving brother and doting uncle to his nieces, Shylene Brewster, whose husband, Chad, became like a brother to Huey, and Mariah Campbell, with great joy and pride.
Professionally, Huey was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. He managed O'Reilly Auto Parts for many years, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and customers alike. His commitment to service extended beyond his professional life as he also worked with the Walkerton and St. Joseph County Police Departments and Majestic Security. Huey's passion for his work was matched only by his love for his country and unwavering support for the U.S. Marines.
Huey had a remarkable ability to make those around him feel like family, often becoming a brother in spirit to many. His generous nature was a beacon of light, and his legacy of love and inclusion will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to cross his path.
Huey's zest for life was evident in his hobbies and interests. A fitness enthusiast, he was a regular at the gym, where he not only worked on his physical strength but also forged lasting friendships. His love for chicken was well-known; he would happily eat it at every meal, claiming it to be the perfect food. Huey was also an avid gun enthusiast, finding both a hobby and a sense of camaraderie within the shooting community.
Above all, Huey's love for his family was paramount. He cherished every moment spent with them, and his absence will be deeply felt by his surviving father, Hubert Betzer Sr., his brother, Larry, Shylene and Chad Brewster, his nieces, Mariah Campbell, Tina Sandefur and Amber Sandefur, and his ex-wife, Dawn. His beloved pet dog, Ceaser, who was like a child to him, will miss his caring presence.

Huey was a friend and co-worker of my significant other - Clint Overmyer. I just saw Huey a couple of weeks ago. I just saw Huey at O´Reilly when I stopped to pick up some boxes. We talked about Clint briefly and I gave him a hug and thanked him for the boxes. Clint enjoyed working with him.
