James Dean Stallter, 85, of Zeeland, Michigan, passed away Friday, Nov. 26, 2021, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 4, 1936, in South Bend to Harvey M. and Norma L. (Bunch) Stallter. On April 2, 1955, he married Nancy K. (Cook) Stallter.
Jim is survived by his wife, Nancy of Zeeland; three children, Lori (Greg) Lambright of Dorr, Michigan, Phillip (Cathy) Stallter of Wakarusa and Mary Sanchez of Mishawaka; grandchildren Joe (Jen) Lambright, Matthew Stallter, Sarah (Jason) VanderReyden, Elizabeth Stallter, Christina (Tony) Pabon, Lisa (Scott) Kickliter, Timothy (Tiffany) Keyser and Ronald (Amber) Henderson; and 22 great-grandchildren.
James was known as a jack of all trades. He dynamited ditches, raced cars, built his own home and fixed anything. He was a scout leader, a supervisor and an engineer. What he didn't know, he learned. What he learned, he shared with others. Even later in life, computers and the internet expanded his world and he embraced all new technologies. He loved our Lord Jesus, his family, his neighbors and friends.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. all at Rieth Rohrer Ehret Lienhart Funeral Home, 117 W. Waterford St., Wakarusa, IN 46573. Pastor Kevin Skaggs will officiate. Burial will follow at Olive (West) Cemetery.
