Kassie Knopick Obituary

Kathleen Mulheran "Kassie" Knopick, 81, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died peacefully at Amira Choice, Bloomington, Minnesota, on Nov. 20, 2025.

Born Aug. 26, 1944, in Minneapolis, she was the third of seven children born to Joseph and Mary Rocheford Mulheran. She graduated from Our Lady of Grace Grade School and the Academy of Holy Angels before receiving her bachelor's in education from the College of St. Theresa's in Winona, Minnesota.

During her years at St. Theresa's, Kassie visited the Newman Center at Winona State where she met the love of her life, Jim Knopick. She found in him a devotion to faith and family that mirrored her own, and they were married in 1967. Jim's career took them from Minnesota to Lebanon, Pennsylvania, and eventually to Elkhart, Indiana, where they spent most of their years together.

Kassie took pride in raising their six children, instilling in them her love for music, art, education, travel, and most importantly, faith. She made a beautiful home and fast friends wherever she lived, and will be missed by dear ones at St. Thomas the Apostle parish, and Four Arts, bridge and book clubs. Kassie will always be remembered for her bike rides through the neighborhood, her flawless swan dives, and the love she radiated through her dazzling, red-lipsticked smile.

Kassie is survived by her children Alexander "Alex" (Patricia "Patty") Knopick of Edina, Minnesota, Kathleen "Kate" (Ryan) Coates of Elkhart, Indiana, Andrew (Kate) Knopick of Edina, Minnesota, Megan (Myros Billy) Knopick of Minnetonka, Minnesota, and James Joseph Knopick of Elkhart, Indiana; grandchildren Will, Katie, Molly and Bridget Knopick, Emma, Sam, Celia, Jack and Leo Coates, and Mary, Louie and Johnny Knopick; and siblings Joe (Jean) Mulheran of Fayetteville, Tennessee, Mollie (Tom) Raih, John (Mollie) Mulheran, and sister-in-law Carol Mulheran, all of Edina, Minnesota, and Peter (Mary) Mulheran of Minnetonka, Minnesota. Kassie is home in heaven with husband Jim and son Ben Knopick, parents Joe and Mary, and brothers Dan and Paul Mulheran.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Church, 5071 Eden Ave., Edina, Minnesota. Private interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Flowers may be sent through Arts & Flowers: www.artsflowersmn.com.

A wonderful lady when I coached her kids in soccer many years ago. I´d periodically run into her and she always made a point of saying hello. Condolences to the family.
