Lauretta Hoover Obituary
Lauretta Jean (Ramer) Hoover, 80, Goshen, died 9:23 a.m. Thursday, April 27, 2023, at her home. She was born Oct. 23, 1942, in New Paris, Indiana, to Harvey W. and Selina (Martin) Ramer. On June 10, 1962, she married Clarence Hoover.
Surviving are her husband, Clarence Hoover, Goshen; six children, Diana (Andrew) Wenger, Goshen, Lila (Wendell) Graber, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, Linda (Lowell) Herschberger, Brooklyn, New York, Beth (Thad) Lechlitner, Middlebury, Andrea (Jerald) Martin, Nappanee, and Laurie Hoover, Ephrata, Pennsylvania; 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; five siblings, Ivan (Rachel) Ramer, Red Lake, Ontario, Canada, Keith (Teri) Ramer, Nappanee, Judy (Elam) Martin of Richland Center, Wisconsin, Charlotte (Verlin) Martin, Bristol, and Charles (Cathy) Ramer, New Paris; and a sister-in-law, Berdine (Paul) Shirk, New Paris.
Preceding her in death are her parents; a son, Devon Alan Hoover; a great-grandson; and a brother, Merle Ramer.
Lauretta was a homemaker. She taught school at Harrison Christian School and had her own wall papering business. She was a lifetime member at Yellow Creek Wisler Mennonite Church, and really enjoyed singing in the Joyful Spirits Choir.
Visitation will be noon to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 4, at the Ramer Mennonite Youth Center, 24717 C.R. 44, Nappanee, IN 46550. A funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 5, at Yellow Creek Wisler Mennonite Church, 25012 C.R. 38, Goshen, IN 46526. Her home minister will officiate. Burial will be at Yellow Creek Wisler Mennonite Cemetery.
