Philip Reed, 86, of Bristol, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2022, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. He was born Oct. 21, 1935, in Frankfort, Indiana, to William and Anna Reed. He married Janet N. Willman in Illinois on April 19, 1958; she preceded him in death on Oct. 20, 2021.
Phil received his bachelor's degree from Purdue University. He honorably served his country in the United States Army Reserves. He was a sales representative for Glascoat Division of Uniglas, Elkhart, and became vice president and general manager. He retired in 2000. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the Elk's and the Optimist Club. He volunteered as a "red coat" at Elkhart General Hospital. His favorite time was spent with family and friends.
Surviving are his children, Michael P. Reed of Bristol and Shelley L. (Jack) Wilkerson of Brentwood, Tennessee; grandchildren Katelin J. Wilkerson, Michael R. Reed, Emma J. (Chris) Nunez, Jake A. Wilkerson and Sarah J. (Connor) Durbin; great-grandson Robert F. Nunez; and his dear friend Sandi Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Anna Reed; his wife, Janet N. Reed; sister Marjorie Reed Ridenour and brother Dr. John David Reed.
A Celebration of Phil's Life will be held at noon on Friday Sept. 23, 2022, at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514, where friends may visit one hour before services. Sister Nora Frost will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorials for Phil may be given to Grace Lutheran Church, 831 W. My condolences to the family of Phil Reed. He was a great person and longtime friend. We went on a few golf trips which memories still make me smile 25+ years later. Be at peace my friend and remember there are only "holes in One" in Heaven.
