Sydney Groen, 73, of Elkhart, Indiana, passed away on Nov. 28, 2021.

Celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Sydney Kenneth Groen, son of the late Fred Groen and Mabel (Bingham) Groen, was born Aug. 22, 1948, in Kings, Illinois. He attended Rochelle Township high school in Rochelle, Illinois, and moved to Mishawaka, Indiana, in 1972. He worked as a printing press operator at multiple printing companies including Lithotone (Elkhart), Petersen Printing Corp. (South Bend) and Rink Printing Co. (South Bend). He always had a passion for cars and racing, boating with family and snowmobiling. He was very proud of his Northern Irish heritage, and did small engine repair for several years prior to his passing. He was an active member of American Legion Post 308, Osceola, Indiana.

Sydney is preceded in death by brother Freddie Groen, father Fred Groen, mother Mabel Morrison (Bingham), wife Nancy Groen (Fawley) and daughter Katie Groen.

Sydney is survived by daughter Carrie Hartley (Nick), son Ken Groen (Amanda), son Kevin Groen (Julie), son Freddie Groen (Gloria), sister Colleen Miller, sister Rogene Crowell, sister Barbara Armstrong, and grandchildren Cadence, Alyssa, Xavier, Katie, Parker and Fury.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Heart to Heart Hospice organization.

Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements.
