To Chris, my beloved husband, hunting @ fishing partner and best friend in the whole world. I miss you so much. There are no words out there to describe the emptiness in my heart and life now that you are gone. Hopefully with time and the love of our kids and all our friends it will become easier for us all.
Everyone always has that same question. Why did it have to happen like this? No one ever knows, and we will never know. There must be a plan in store for you. Knowing you, it will be a good one, because of the type of person you were.
I will always love you, and hold a special place in my heart for you.

I would like to thank everyone for their help and support through this troubling time. I know that it would be impossible without friends and family like you.
Thanks again, and remember to cherish the one’s that you are with, if you don’t it may be too late and they will be gone.

Cornejo Family,
I was saddened to hear of Chris's passing. I have many fond memories of growing up with Kristi and spent a lot of time with the family. He always made me feel at home and didn't mind having a houseful of teenage girls, he will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

To the Cornejo family my condolences. Although I've been away from Elko for over 35 years I'll never forget the way your family took me into their fold. I remember Chris as a little kid but I'm glad to see he grew into a wonderful man, husband, and father.

There is so much that can be said about my Dad, He was a very loyal, trusting man that would be at your side at the drop of a hat if you needed him. He enjoyed teaching or passing anything on that he could, it could have been anything from the first piece of leather work to repairing a busted sprinkler line. As many of his friends know you could always count on him. Through out the years my father has had the opportunity to meet and gather many friendships. These friendships were family to him. And I am honored to have many aunts and uncles from his ties.
My father was my rock; we would talk almost every day. I was a true Daddy’s girl. He would call at 4:00 a.m. just to say hi and tell me to have a good day, or we would talk about anything that was going on. Anytime that I was having problems he would be right there to cheer me up. There were even days that he drove over to Winnemucca just to give me a bunny milk and beat me at a few backgammon games just to let me know that things would be ok. He really was a great man.
We had or family discrepancies like many others, but I know that he loved us very much and was proud of all of us, even though he didn’t say it much. I hope that he will continue to watch over us and hopefully continue to feel the same way.
He will be greatly missed by all, I hope that I will never forget the memories that we cherished and the things that he taught me. I hope that he know how much I loved and appreciated him and everything that he did. Even though I am selfish and wish that we still had more time together, I know that he is in a better place. There is no more suffering and no more pain. As we started to say good bye he told me how he was so sick and tired of being sick and tired, and now he is able to rest.
The memories that we have all shared will live on with us. The stories, the nicknames, the songs, the phrases and the teachings will all get passed on. I know that I will cherish him in my heart everyday. I know that moving on will be tough and things will not be the same but we will all be there for each other like you have taught us. I am sure that would be what dad would want us to do.
Until we meet again, enjoy nabbing the big elk in the sky.
I will love you forever, Papa. You’re “Scarvey-dog” Kristy

Chris was a true friend and an inspiration to many of us. I went to high school with Chris and our friendship continued throughout the years. When my husband and I moved to Nevada in 1991, Chris proudly introduced his family to us.His family was his everything and they were his driving force. Kristine and Jered, he beamed as he spoke of you-he was so very proud of you. He will live on through each of you-remember what he has taught you. We got to catch up on old times and relive great memories but it never seems like there is enough time to get together as much as what we would like. Patty,Kristine and Jered (and other family members) we are saddened and shocked to hear that Chris is gone and our heartfelt condolences are extended to you and hopefully time will ease the pain. Forever in our memories Chris, we hold you in our hearts.

Patty and family, We pray that the sorrow and sadness that you feel now will soon be shadowed by the happy and wonderful memories you have of Chris. We didn't get to see him much but when we did his infectious sense of humor and love of life is a tribute to the blessed life he led. Please take comfort in knowing that you are in the prayers of so many! Henry & Mia Krenka

Ginny and family, I am so sorry for your loss. No parent expects to bury a child. I will always remember those days on Wilson Street when all our kids were growing up together. They say that a person's eyes are the window to their soul...I never saw Chris without a smile in his eyes...that says a lot...maybe all that needs to be said.
Please accept my deepest sympathy, and keep your loving memories alive in your hearts forever.

Meeting Chris, you Patty and the kids some 25 years ago has left indelible memories with me. Through his plight and all his struggles Chris was always a fighter. A great sense of humor seemed to brighten his darkest days. I am fortunate to have met him and to have helped him somewhat but mostly to have shared a little part of our lives together. He was quite a story teller and I loved sitting there in your home when I visited, listening to Chris tell some “tall tales”. He was funny, so kind and generous and always had a smile and a firm handshake when he greeted you. Although it’s been years since I’ve seen you all last, I have never forgotten nor will I ever forget, Chris. I am deeply saddened that Chris has left us. There will now be a hole in the world that no one will ever be able to fill. Me, Jill & JD are praying for you and your family’s comfort, understanding and peace, Patty. God Bless You All.

Patty and Cornejo family, I have heard so many great things about Chris, from you and many others. I would have liked to have met him. Patty, your time at Bald Mountain just began, and yet the passing of your husband deeply saddens us all. Celebrate his life well, not just today, but with each day to come. He has left you all an amazing gift - a heart full of wonderful memories. God bless you. Rachel Clingan, Bald Mountain Mine.

Chris was one of my favorite customers in Elko! When he would rent cars in the mornings he would bring muffins and coffee, on hot days he would call and see how many people were in the office and bring us Rootbeer floats. I got to know him so well and always looked forward to seeing him. He was a great guy and will be missed.
