David White Obituary

Services for David Laurence White, 49, who died May 23 at Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital, will be held at 1 p.m. June 2 at the First Presbyterian Church, 1559 Sewell Drive in Elko, with Pastor Pat Mecham officiating.
He was born Feb. 4, 1958 in Fresno, Calif., to Dale and Audrey White.
A major participant in the family business, Dale White Motors, he graduated from Elko High School and was a member of the Band of Indians. He and his bandmates marched in the parade for President Richard Nixon's inauguration in Washington, D.C., in 1972.
He became an Eagle Scout in 1975. He studied computer technology and obtained an associate of accounting degree from the Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls. Afterwards, he returned to the family business and managed the Avis Rent-a-car for several years.
He earned his pilot's license in 1983 and joined the Civil Air Patrol the following year. Following in his father's and grandfather's footsteps, he earned the rank of lieutenant colonel and remained active until his passing.
He loved trains, cars, and NASCAR and competed in races at Summit Raceway, serving as president of the Northern Nevada Motor Sports Association in 1994 and was named as the group's Sportsman of the Year the same year.
An energetic member of the community, he served as the Elko Area Chamber of Commerce vice president in 1998 and president in 1999, a post his father also held.
He was a partner in the family business, where he was the comptroller and customer relations manager, an aspect of the job he particularly enjoyed.
He was preceded in death by a nephew, Aaron White, and niece, Amanda Irene Christensen.
He is survived by his wife, Amber White; son, Alexzander Duncan White; stepdaughter Kathryn Peak; parents, Dale and Audrey White; brothers Dennis (Lori) White and Jerry (Robi) White, all of Elko; aunts Velma Weber and Laura Lindegren of Fresno, Calif.; and Marilyn Shallue of Tucson, Ariz.; Marjorie and Earl Wahl; J.W. and Trista Wilden; Shane and Alyssa Christensen; Damon and Natalie Wahl; Benjamine, Theron and Melinda Wahl; Madisen, Ahren and Kieran Wahl; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Civil Air Patrol, 820 Murray Way, Elko, NV 89801

Audry and Dale
We have known you since you moved here and Bob enjoyed his visits with Audry a few years ago. Remember what his hope was for the future even for those we have lost in death. My heart goes out to your family at this loss.

Dale, Audrey, Amber, You and your family are in my prayers. Born and raised in Elko we all seem like family in a small way. A loss of a child and spouse at any age is difficult but when they are young it is even harder. God Bless to all of you and Audrey your article in the paper touched my heart. You are such a loving mother. Be strong and know you have many people praying for you.

Amber, I am so sorry for your loss and rest assured I know just how you're feeling. My thoughts and prayer are with you and Alexander as you move through this time of sorrow. Please know you are not alone in your sorrow. I will always treasure the time we chatted with David and later you over the garden. Cling to the good times and know that as hard as everything is today as time passes and your heart mends those good times will be the place you go as you remember your love for David. Remember you and I now have our own "Special Angels" to protect us.
