Donna Jones Obituary
On November 8, 2025, Donna (Layton) Jones, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away at the age of 84. Born July 25, 1941, in Carlin, Nevada, the daughter of Herman and Helen Layton.
She graduated from Carlin High School in 1959. Donna had many different jobs throughout her life, she enjoyed the ones working with troubled teens at Nevada Youth Training Center and being a juvenile probation officer for Elko County the most. She worked as a legal secretary for many years and a medical receptionist prior to retiring.
Donna is lovingly remembered by her two children Garn Chet Littledyke (Laura) and Kimberley Sue Pruitt (Timothy), grandchildren: Garn Josua Littledyke (Tiara), Travis Dee Pruitt (Kelly), Blake Ryan Pruitt (Katrina), great-grandchildren: Emma, Addison and Avery, Brother Terry Wayne Layton (Kathy) along with many nieces and nephews.
A dear friend once stated if she had to describe Donna with one word it would be Service. Donna lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, spending time with family and friends, and serving others with simple acts of kindness. She was generous, caring and had a great sense of humor. She became known by her grandchildren as Silly Grandma as she was always available for fun and games, and was a dedicated fan in the bleachers or on the sidelines at most of their sporting events.
Donna was a strong, independent woman, a hard worker, sometimes holding down three jobs so she could be sure her children wanted for nothing. She was fiercely protective of her children and grandchildren and would do anything for them. She enjoyed reading, took great pride in her yard, was a master cook and an avid baker, famous for her sugar cookies and orange rolls.
Preceded in death by her loving parents Herman O. Layton and Helen Louise (Fergeson) Layton, brother Herman Ray Layton and sister Darlene Louise Bianucci.
Donna's legacy of love, strength and unwavering dedication to her family will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
We wish to thank the staff of The Auberge at Aspen Park, memory care facility in Salt Lake City, Utah for the loving care they provided our mother over the past 10 years. May God bless all of you!
The family will have a private gathering in celebration of her life. There will be no public service. Memorial donations in Donna's name may be made to the Cure Alzheimer's Fund, 34 Washington St., Suite 230, Wellesley Hills, MA 02481.
