Gloria Jean Ashley
May 4, 1945 - April 24, 2024
ARLINGTON, WA - Gloria Jean (Jayo) Ashley, 78, passed away on April 24, 2024, in Everett, Washington. She was born May 4, 1945, in Elko, Nevada. Jeannie was a truly kind and loving person who leaves behind a void that will be deeply felt by her family and many friends. She was loved by all who knew her.
Jeannie married Al Ashley in 1970 and they were married for 53 years. Following their marriage, Jeannie & Al lived in Reno, Nevada for 25 years before moving to Washington in 1995.
Jeannie is survived by her husband Al and three daughters, Paula Kennedy (Guy), Alice Ashley (Chuck), and Jeanette Dolan (Cory). She also leaves behind 6 grandchildren (Tyler, Brandon, Devin, Emilia, Johnny, and Danny), and 2 great-grandchildren (Kash and Lucy), including numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jeannie was preceded in death by her parents, Julian and Marie Jayo, and brothers John Jayo and Raymond Jayo.
Jeannie was very proud of her Basque heritage. She believed that her most important job was caring for her children and grandchildren. She was happiest when she could be with her family for any reason. She looked forward to big family gatherings in her home at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas, and celebrating birthdays for a family member at a local area restaurant. For over twenty years she traveled with her family to Elko, Nevada during Fair time to bet a few bucks on the horses - but most of all, to be with family and friends. She enjoyed a Picon (or 2) and dining at the Star Hotel and the Biltoki prior to its closing. Often, dinner reservations would be for 30 or 40 people.
Funeral services will be held in both Arlington, Washington (Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, May 11th, 11:00 AM), and Elko, Nevada (Saint Joseph's Catholic Church, May 25th, 11:00 AM). With a luncheon to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children Hospital or a charity of your choice.

Jeanne was an amazing Mother and friend. She was a fantastic hostess, when she had you over you were treated like family. Her beautiful spirit will live on in her three daughters who embody all of the outstanding qualities she did. Jeanne was a treasure and will be missed by all who knew her.
