Karla Whittle Obituary

Karla Kay Beckham Whittle

February 19, 1950 - March 4, 2025

Karla Kay Beckham Whittle 75, the daughter of Hugh Kent Beckham and Fern Hackett Beckham, passed of natural causes due to multiple illnesses, at her home in Spring Creek, Nev. on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. She departed this earthly life peacefully through the veil to rejoin her family and loved ones, already deceased, entering into the care of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Born in Ventura, Calif., Karla was a true California girl (from 1950's California) who loved the feel of the sand in between her toes and the roar of the ocean surf. In her youth she attended Girls' State and was a diligent student. She traded the lure of the ocean for the sage brush hills and mountains of Nevada after meeting and marrying her soulmate Thomas Lee Whittle, a geologist by trade who never quite convinced her, that rocks were as beautiful as wildflowers. They were married in the Manti, UT Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on April 3, 1973. She was a loving mother of five, a cherished grandmother, and a devoted wife and a daughter that honored her parents. She was also a talented artist and loved the beauty of the earth and all of creation. She thrived studying art at BYU. She loved reading and collecting the best of books. The brilliant blooms of daffodils and the aroma of pine trees were her Rocky Mountain high. She loved trees, surrounding her home with a forest of pine and aspen. Much like the kachinas her spirit will "Ride the Laughing Wind", and her soul will join the wayfarers among the stars. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy and she taught them the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. While her health declined in her final years, her vibrant spirit and love will be missed by her family.

She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Lee Whittle; five children including, Liberty Lee Whittle, Holly Whittle, Jeremiah Scott Whittle (Eva Marie Whittle), Joshua Levi Whittle (Cara Lynne Whittle), and Kally Whittle; as well as five grandchildren; and two sisters, Bonnie Beckham Garner and Evelynn Chappell Glenn.

Mom, we will miss you and look forward to the day of the resurrection when we will be reunited as an eternal family. May you truly rest in peace, and rest assured that your legacy of Faith will live on in your posterity. No services will be held, but thoughts and prayers are much appreciated. Her family would like to sincerely thank the doctors, nurses, home hospice caregivers and workers that ministered to her in her final weeks. As well as the friends of the family who followed the promptings of the Spirit and loved and served her spontaneously in Christlike charity over the years. "Oh Happy Day!" at last free from pain and sorrow!

Karla was so kind to me as her visiting teacher when I first moved here 14 years ago. I am so glad I got to know her. I talked to her on the phone a few months ago. I loved her smooth voice. Peace to the family.
