Carolyn Lincoln Alkenburg

Carolyn Lincoln Alkenburg, 80, of Fayetteville, passed away Sunday (Dec. 11, 2016) at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia. A native of Canandaigua, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Henry Douglass and Beulah Jacobs Lincoln, a retired teacher with Fayetteville City School System and member of the Fayetteville First Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Leslie Alkenburg; daughter, Susan (Pat) Miller of Huntsville, Ala.; sons, John Charles (Debbie Milz) Alkenburg and James Henry (Tereigh Thorp) Alkenburg; grandchildren, Rebecca Alkenburg (Matt) Cofer, Hanna Alkenburg (Matt) Gossett and Jessica Alkenburg (Michael) Cates; six great-grandchildren; and sisters, Nancy (Richard) Hughes and Mary Yon. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Alkenburg was preceded in death by a son, Donald Leslie Alkenburg, and a brother, John Lincoln. Memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16, at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Ann Hatcher officiating. Burial will follow in Higgins Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. on Friday at Higgins Funeral Home.
