Ms. J!!! You had a HUGE impact on my life. You instilled a love of language and foreign cultures in all of us. I am amazed at how learning just a little french has helped me bridge the gap when meeting new people. Some things I will miss: watching you and Mrs. Weaver acting a fool on your lunch break, listening to the CATS soundtrack in your office, giving us M&Ms during tests, going to the treat bucket on my birthday. I am now a teacher and I will keep your spirit alive in my classroom. Dawn Dean Class of 1989

Dear Mrs.Johnstone, It has come to our surprise that GOD has taken so soon such a great human being. I will always be grateful for the wonderful chats you and I had. My daughters will always be grateful for everything you did for them. You will always live in our hearts and surroundings how can they forget you if they both learned to speak French thanks to you. Lee Ann & Moonshadow as myself will always appreciate your kindness. May you Rest in Peace and may God grant your family the strength needed to continue through this journey. If more teacher were like you this world would be a much better place!

I will miss Ms. Johnstone for the rest of my life. She has remained a part of my life since my sophmore year at Hanks in 1982. She was and is my favorite teacher of all time.
She taught me how to be a good teacher and instilled a love for all things French.
I am now looking for a teaching position in France and I owe it to Ms. J.
All of my love to her family. We students listened to loving stories about them in every class meeting.

17 years after my graduation, I reached out to Ms. J to tell her I'd finally made it to Paris and to thank her again for being such a fantastic teacher. I was so delighted to hear back from her. Her passion for teaching and France fueled my own love for learning and travel. She encouraged her students to do and be their best, and I am a better person for having known her. Ms. J was pure life force, and I will always hold her in my heart. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

Ms. J, the best life teacher ever. She may have taught French, but to some of us, she taught us how to live and to believe in your self. She helped us guide through rough times, making us stronger each time. She will be forever missed; however, let us rejoice on all the positive impact she had on so many people. Let us carry on her candle of love, compassion, and teaching and illuminate the world. We will truly miss you, but your legacy lives through us.

Hands down, my favorite teacher at Hanks... and I was a nerd, so I had a lot of great teachers. Ms. J was an awesome woman, and a supportive friend that could always be counted on for a wise word of advice. I regret that I did not have a chance to say goodbye.

I remember when I first got to Hanks many past and current students always spoke very highly of a teacher referred to as "Ms. J." I never had the opportunity to be in her class, but always heard nothing but great things from students that were fortunate enough to have her as a teacher.
I feel privileged to have shared a few conversations with Ms. J throughout my 4 years at Hanks. She was and will always be a Hanks institution.
Till we meet again...

My thoughts and prayers are with the Johnstone family for such an enormous loss of one of the most incredible people I have ever met in my entire life. Ms J has touched so many lives, changed so many lives, mentored so many students, helped form so many personalities, bring so much good to this world...there are not enough words to express the many good deeds she did in her lifetime. It is such a tragic loss to all of us who were so blessed to have known her and who had the privilege of having been her student. She always gave a piece of her heart to all of us and it meant so much...
I will always treasure all of the memories and am so grateful for having been able to reconnect 25 years later to find the same fun, loving Ms J! She will be missed tremendously.
Praying for peace and healing for the family.

Ms J, you will be dearly missed, you were one of the greatest persons I have ever met in my life. I met you in 1978 at Hanks and even though I wasn't in your class I spent many a day in your room, talking and learning to be a more respectful young man. Your kindness and understanding kept me focused on the bigger picture in life and I graduated from Hanks in 1982. All though I wasn't at Hanks anymore, you still made time for me when I had a problem or question never telling me that you couldn't or wouldn't help, that is just the kind of person you were. As life went on, we always stayed in touch and even when I wasn't calling you, you still kept up with what was going on in my life. One of my greatest joys was introducing you to my eldest son when he became a freshman at Hanks. You immediately gave him a big hug and told him that whatever he needed you would be there for him, just like you were with me. you took him to you're desk and showed him a post it that you had on your desk that was old and worn with my name and cell phone number on it and you told him that it had been there for over 10 years, and then you proceeded to tell him how much that i had meant to you over the years and that you knew if you ever needed something you could count on me. My son and Ms J had a wonderful relationship and he also graduated but not before we took my youngest son who was now a freshman to meet her, and the story repeated itself. Ms J i just want you to know and everyone else to know what a beautiful angel you were and to let you know that We love and will miss you. I cant wait to meet you again in the future, I'm sure I still have a lot to learn! love you and I'll see you again

Ms. J was a great teacher while I was at Hanks and became a friend years later. I remember the pink pig in the corner of her room "flying around", and she always walked into class with a mason jar mug filled with iced coffee. After graduation, my father started working at Hanks and he and Ms. J became friends. Whenver I visited my dad, I'd stop by to see Ms. J as well. I will miss her laugh, her friendship and just the overall great person she was. My sympathies to her family. Heaven just got one of the funniest people I know.

I would like to express my deepest sympathy to Beverly's family. She was truly a gifted teacher who inspired not only her students but her peers as well. Teachers like her really understand that people are the most important resource a country has. Her positive attitude and dedication to her students helped guide many young people during their difficult teen years. She will always be remembered. As a parent of one of those students and as a fellow teacher who worked along side her, I know she made a difference in many lives.

Beverly, you will be deeply missed! It was an honor and privilege to know you. Our family was blessed to have such a wonderful neighbor. I have never met such a beautiful, strong and independent woman. I used to freak out seeing you on your roof turning on your air conditioner, but you wouldn't have it any other way. I will never never forget what you did for my daughter! You were our angel in disguise, so now our father needs his special angel back home. Thank you beverly we love you! We will never forget you!
