David Duran Obituary
El Paso - David Alejandro Duran passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, May 14, 2020. He was a lifelong resident of El Paso where he ran a successful ballet school for over 30 years. The Ballet Center produced many strong, confident, graceful young women and men who all remember him with affection and respect. The reopening of the Ballet Center was funded by his students who came to his home and presented him with a check to open his new studio. Over the years, David produced incredible recitals presented at Magoffin Auditorium. He was aided in these endeavors by Sharon Moore and Richard Glass. The three of them made many little girls' dreams come true.
David is survived by his sisters Deborah Sullivan and Margaret Duran, his brother Victor Duran, his nephews Sam, Jesse, and Daniel Sullivan, Alejandro and Mark Duran, and his niece Rachel Duran.
The memorial will take place at the Ballet Center on Thursday, May 21, 2020 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., 4026 N. Mesa St., Ste. C, El Paso, Texas
David Alejandro Durán falleció pacíficamente el jueves por la mañana del 14 de mayo de 2020. Fue residente de toda la vida de El Paso donde dirigió una exitosa escuela de ballet durante más de 30 años. El Ballet Center produjo muchas mujeres y hombres fuertes, seguros y elegantes quienes lo recuerdan con afecto y respeto. La reapertura del Ballet Center fue financiada por sus estudiantes que llegaron a su casa y le presentaron un cheque para abrir su nuevo estudio. Con los años, David produjo recitales increíbles presentados en el Auditorio Magoffin. Sharon Moore y Richard Glass lo ayudaron en estos esfuerzos. Las tres hicieron realidad los sueños de muchas niñas. A David le sobreviven sus hermanas Deborah Sullivan y Margaret Durán, su hermano Víctor Durán, sus sobrinos Sam, Jesse y Daniel Sullivan, Alejandro y Mark Duran, y su sobrina Rachel Durán. El servicio conmemorativo tendrá lugar en el Ballet Center el jueves 21 de mayo del 2020 de 2:00 p.m. a 4:00 pm, en el 4026 N. Mesa St., Ste. C, El Paso, Texas.

I was one of David´s ballet students in the 1980´s, and he has always been in my heart. He gave me the love and discipline required for ballet, and also for life. I am so grateful I got to learn from him. He was and is an angel. Sending my love to his family today <3

My daughter and I thank David for his teaching, professionalism, sacrifice and love of ballet. He was a big part of ouf lives and helped so many children strive to become better human beings. Our deepest condolences to his family and friends.

To David's Family and Friends,
I am so sorry for your loss. David was a wonderful dancer and am sad to hear of David's passing. He has left a print in each of our lives. I know that he continues to dance in heaven. He will be missed in each of the lives he touched. May God give you the peace and comfort each of you need. I am grateful that I was a person that was touched by his life.

David Duran will be remembered for his good temperment with a lot of fond family time. David was a good cub scout , a good friend to my Brother Joe Antone. David always expressed good love for his brother and Sister, and parents as well as the cousins. I certainly can remember much of his young professional carreer and the opening of his dance studio. To the family, please welcome condolenses. David will be missed but will not be lost.

I'll never forget the memories and friends I made during the years I danced at the Ballet Centre. I'm so grateful I had the opportunity to learn how to dance from such a passionate teacher and I hope David's legacy lives on in all of his students.

David was my daughter, Sarika's, and later my granddaughter, Skye's, ballet teacher. So professional, creative, devoted to the art. Beautiful performances.
So sorry he went too soon. Condolences to his family.
