Dionicio Baca Obituary

On Saturday, September 19, 2009 Dionicio L. Baca, left this world to be at God's side. We are at peace knowing that he now is with his loving wife, Francisca G. Baca and children, Antonio, Robert, Anita, and Rita Baca. Dionicio was born in a close knit community named Stormsvile, in El Paso, Texas on October 9, 1922. He was loving, a dedicated family man, and a proud U.S. Army Veteran from World War II. When he was fourteen years old he returned to El Paso from Wilye, Colorado and began working at Pearson Lumber yard. He met his beloved Francisca and married her in 1942, shortly after he was drafted. In 1946 he returned to EL Paso to be with his family and to work in Asarco, from where he retired after 43 years of service. Our beloved Dionicio enjoyed traveling to Mexico, California, and Colorado to visit family. Cherishing his memory are sons, Dionicio, Jr., Pedro, Ramon, Juan, Richard, and Benito Baca, daughters, Maria Luisa Martinez, Maria de Jesus Gore, Rosa Castañeda, Magdalena Mendoza, Teresa B. Aguirre, Dolores Regalado, Linda Baca, Elena McLellan, and Alma Cruz, siblings, Ramon Baca, Bertha Hinojos, and Trini Baca. To my Nieces and families and Nephews and Their families and Extended Baca Family. There are no words to express what you are feeling right now for the loss of your father/grandfather but my deepest sympathy go out to all of you. My brother was a simple man who loved his family and worked very hard to make sure they were provided for. He also loved his Country by serving in the U.S. Army. No matter what God put in front of my brothers and sisters, we still remained a close family. Although he resided in El Paso and I live in Los Angeles, we still made sure we communicated as much as possible. His visits brought joy to both of us and spent hours talking and remembering our younger days. My beloved brother will be missed but I know that GOD has taken him home to rest.

Remember, I am still a phone call away to just talk or say Hello. Love you All. Your Tia Berta (cousin Raymond).

My last words:
Caring for my father for the past threee years of his life was an honor that I will never forget. I felt complete and fulfulled, knowing that I was needed. It has given me a greater appreciation for life. I spoke to dad and told him that he wouldn't be alone; but, that his loved ones would be waiting for him, and will be welcoming him with open arms, in his new home. On October 9, my father would have been 88 years of age, therefore, I decided to sing happy birthday to him. I reassured him that if he was ready to go ahead and cross over, to do so. I told him I would miss him and he would be in my heart forever, and thanked him for bringing me into this world. I love you dad! My beautiful dad! Your Daughter Dolores.
